Q and A

Can I use salt pellets instead of salt block??

Postby Ccarbo » Mon May 14, 2007 10:02 am

I have a Rainsoft softener with a external square brine tank. I was told by the installer to use the block salt and not pellets or crystals. I have been just buying the salt blocks from Fleet Farm. Gary, do you know if I can buy the Solar salt pellets instead of the blocks??? The solar salt is alot cleaner than the blocks I buy. I am just wondering. thanks.

As far as I know, as long as you keep the salt away from the brine pick up tube, you can use any type salt you want to. If the salt gets up against or through the slots in the tube, that might cause a problem if small pieces were sucked in.
