A few of my sucky plumber experiences

Postby Gary Slusser » Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:55 am

The most recent is Black Mountain Plumbing in San Diego CA. They seem to do good work but, only use them if you enjoy paying high prices. See the thread:
read this if you don't plan to completely install yourself

Another is (from his BBB listing):
DUNBAR PLUMBING SERVICES
66 McCullum Road
Independence, KY 41051
Original Business
Start Date: 9/23/2002
Type of Entity: Corporation
Principal: Steve Nienaber, President
Local Phone Number: (859)359-4833
Membership Status: YES
TOB Classification: Plumbing Contractors
Web Site URL(s): http://www.dunbarplumbing.com

He edits and deletes my posts on forums he moderates. He's banned me or led to me being banned on a number of forums. This has been going on since he started posting in forums in Aug. 2003 and I disagreed with him about the use of copper tubing regardless of the water quality. He also suggests a prefilter for softeners. He knows nothing about water treatment and he should stay in his field of blocked sewer lines and fixing toilets and faucets. He posts as DUNBAR PLUMBER, DUNBAR, STEMDOCTOR and RUGGED; yes all in CAPS! Says ego driven to me. He's been in many businesses; concrete contractor, real estate finance, a union plumber in new construction... Now he's a up to $130/hr residential service plumber and yet he won't buy anything from a plumbing supply house! Everything he uses is from a big box store. He installs Kenmore softeners with prefilters and says they are the best there is....

Based on his posts replying to people asking plumbing questions, he's a terrible troubleshooter so I question how good a plumber he is. You can read his posts by doing a search for "DUNBAR PLUMBER" inside the "", or any of the other handles he uses.

Dumbar Plumber

Postby speedbump » Wed Sep 28, 2005 8:52 am

I have also had problems with My. Dumbar. He scolded me on the Find forum for putting a link to my website.

After spending 1/2hour looking for the rules of this website I saw nowhere where advertising was forbidden. He couldn't tell me where it was written either, but threatened to ban me if I didn't comply with his orders.

His rudeness at first was somewhat grinding and after a few confrontations he seemed to let up a bit.

I think the term Moderator has gone to his head.

I have looked at a few of his posts on pumps etc. and it's obvious he knows nothing about them.

Yeah, plumbers all suck. damn over priced idiots that think they can tell me how to
do stuff that I been doing for years. Has a friggin state inspector tell ME that I could
not cut into the sewer drain to put my rinse line into without a friggin vent. Just how
in hell am I supposed to get a damn vent up through a 2 story house and who cares anyway.
Then he tells me that I have to put the stuff within 5 feet of the water line so I have to
take it all out and move a bunch of the homeowners crap to put it near the water main.
Why do these guys think that we should have to follow their stupid rules?
